Dr. Hashim received the B.Eng. degree in 2002 from Universiti Putra Malaysia; M.Sc. in 2006 from Universiti Sains Malaysia; and the Ph.D. degree in 2010 from the University of Sydney, Australia. He joined the Department of Computer and Communication Systems Engineering at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2011, where he is currently an Associate Professor. Dr. Hashim also leads the Communication Network Lab, and his research activities in wireless communication network include: mobile networks, network and computer security, wireless sensor networks, software defined networking, network function virtualization, blockchain, vehicular communication, and emerging networks (5G/6G). For the past 9 years as academician and researcher, he received more than MYR 5 million and MYR 10 million for research grants and consultation project respectively from local and international organization. He was instrumental and led the technical team responsible for developing the instrument for SETARA and MyQUEST, used by the Ministry of Education to measure the quality performance of higher learning institutions in Malaysia (University, University College, College). Owing to his involvement in various projects related to quality planning and assurance, he is appointed as associate fellow by UPM Centre of Quality Assurance and auditor for Malaysia Qualification Agency. Dr. Hashim is actively involved in professional activities. He was the past chair of IEEE Malaysia Young Professionals (YP) and IEEE Malaysia Communications and Vehicular Technology Society (ComSoC/VTS) Joint Chapter. Under his stewardship, ComSoc/VTS won the prestigious 2016 ComSoc Chapter of the Year and VTS Chapter of the Year. He was the receipient of the 2017 Volunteer of the Year award by ComSoc/VTS.
